The Ecological Battery: Storing Solar Surplus as Heated Water

 

The ecological battery—an idea that’s been around for years in both existing and new appliances—remains underutilized and relatively unknown. EasySG by EasyNRJ aims to change this by making it simple to activate this smart energy system, maximizing its benefits for the energy transition. This eco-friendly solution stores surplus solar energy as heated water, eliminating the need for lithium batteries, creating a clean heat reservoir, and boosting self-consumption for a more sustainable future.

 

 

Introducing EasySG: Smart Solutions for Smart Homes

At EasyNRJ, we’re simplifying the adoption of SG Ready technology with two innovative devices:

 

1. EasyMETER (P1 Dongle): This device reads data directly from your digital meter, capturing real-time energy information. It serves as the core of the EasySG system, providing essential information on energy production and consumption.

 

2. EasySG (Smart Grid Controller): This intelligent controller directs your Smart Grid-ready appliance based on data from the EasyMETER. It automatically responds to signals from the digital meter, activating your SG Ready heat pump or device to use surplus solar energy efficiently.

 

 

Together, these devices create a seamless system that redirects any excess solar energy directly to your heat pump or other Smart Grid appliance, maximizing self-consumption and lowering electricity bills.

 

EasySG configuration

A great solution is one you install and forget about! That’s exactly the mindset behind our design of the EasySG:

Once connected to Wi-Fi, simply scan the QR code to open the configuration mini-app.

Set the required injection (surplus) level to activate Power relays 1 and 2.

For example, for a 700W heat pump water heater with a 2kW resistance

#11 Power Relay 1: 0.7kW
#12 Power Relay 2: 2.0kW

Enable Smart relay activation:

#06 Smart: ON

How Does SG Ready Work?

1: With EasySG PRO

Smart Grid Ready appliances, such as heat pumps, can respond to up to four specific modes, thanks to the binary inputs provided by EasySG PRO:

 Operating Mode Binary Input Description
Mode 1: Blocked 1:0 Heat pump operation is temporarily blocked (not used by EasySG)
Mode 2: Normal 0:0 Run in a standard, energy-efficient mode
Mode 3: Encouraged 0:1

Increases operation to use surplus solar energy, ideal for heating and hot water.

Mode 4: Forced 1:1

Forced operation, with options to increase hot water temperature, maximizing energy use when surplus is available.

 

Our EasySG PRO allows you to seamlessly pilot your Smart Grid Ready appliance thanks to the digital meter informations. 

 

 

 

2: With EasySG (230V)

Some Smart Grid Ready appliances use a simplified version of the protocol, accepting only one binary input for encouraged mode. Such devices generaly support a digital input of 230V signal.
